Chanel Code Coco

So universally fabled is CHANEL’s 2.55 bag, its connotative power eclipses the command of mere words. Last fall, the label listened to the loaded language of its most evocative accessory – a standard shorthand for sophistication – and translated its iconic quilted lambskin into a wristwatch so delicate it would beg to be worn like jewlry, escorting the woman as she sheds her bouclé suit and steps into her evening gown. This exquisite timepiece, the Code Coco, now sets about winning the affections of those betrothed to a pitch palette, presented in black ceramic for 2018.

Just like the steel and white gold editions that blazed the trail, this dark and handsome iteration leads on from the same slender bracelet silhouette, its bevelled squares recalling the stitching of the beloved bag, and fitted with the self-same clasp, which finds a home at the heart of the watch’s dial, and closes with the same satisfying click. Swivelled open or closed, it conceals or reveals the time inconspicuously nestled beneath, your time protected like a treasure. Finery right down to the finest of details; the design is finished with a single princess-cut diamond to the dial, or, for sceptics of the ‘less is more’ mantra, an identical sister edition ices the steel bezel with 52 counts of a girl’s best friend. Mademoiselle would be proud.
